The Hungarian language

Hard to learn, easy to read out loud.

The Hungarian alphabet is essentially the Latin alphabet, with a lot of accents added. We have four different Os (o, ó, ö, ő) and four different Us (u, ú, ü, ű). A few sounds are written with letter pairs, like ty, which outsiders find nearly impossible to pronounce.

Hungarian is extremely difficult. Even after you learn the rules, you're not finished, because almost every rule comes with exceptions.

The one piece of good news: Hungarian is phonetic. Once you master how each sound is spelled, the written word never surprises you, unlike English, where the same spelling can sound completely different.
