The troublemaker
Mustard sandwiches, the Hungarian Parliament on TV, and a brother with straight A's.
I was, of course, the troublemaker. My brother, two and a half years older, was the ideal kid: straight A's, five languages, every parent's dream. And then there was me, the lazy ass eating mustard sandwiches after school and watching the Hungarian Parliament on TV instead of doing my homework.
I've always been curious about the world, but school was tough unless I had an amazing teacher. When something grabs me, though, I give it everything.
About 30 years ago a friend and I went to see Kispest play Ferencváros: a hundred or so of us against thousands of FTC fans. My big idea? A road flare. Turns out flares at a football match are very illegal. Before I could even light it, the police arrested us both and put us in actual cells.
My brother picked me up and my parents never knew, until six months later, when a police letter nearly knocked my mom off her chair. No charge in the end, just a big guy who ended up crying in a cell. I can laugh about it now.
